Meet the Friars

Both are all-inclusive, welcoming & affirming Independent Catholic ministry for ALL God's children, especially those who feel unwanted, rejected or alienated for any reason, to let them know God loves them exactly as He created them & that He desires them to fully partake of their Baptismal rights in the Mystical Body of Christ, the Universal Church and experience all the gifts which God bestows upon them. All applicants, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation or marital status are welcome to pursue a vocation with this Order if they feel called by the Holy Spirit and have discerned a life-long path inside the sibling hood of this spiritual family of companions. All ages 18+ are welcome as well as those who aspire to the lay Third Order.
Friar Rufino is also a daily volunteer at the St. Francis Breadline at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Manhattan as well as an archivist at the Larry Rivers Foundation (also in NYC) before moving recently to Sarasota, Florida. Friar Rufino is an accomplished poet having writing previous books with Hanging Loose Press as well as volunteering with homeless shelters, various meal distribution centers, soup kitchens and animal rescue adoption programs. Current and future ministries include working with sex trafficking survivors, local homeless outreach, helping school children, volunteering at the Motes Aquarium, Meals-On-Wheels and completing a third book of poetry to console those who are marginalized and feel unloved by God, misunderstood.

Friar Rufino Olin, OFM
Friar Rufino has assisted at the food pantry at St. Bartholomew's Church in New York, a caregiver at Sylvia's Place LGBTQ youth services center in Times Square.
Fr. Bob Johnnene OFM founded the Ecumenical Order Franciscans of Mercy in 2003, also founded Mission Saints Sergius & Bacchus in 2002.

Sister Tanya Duval, OFM
Friar Paul is the semi-retired former pastor of St. Anthony Hermitage in Kennesaw, GA, and has been a Franciscan for 52 years.
Sister Tanya is a Eucharistic Minister serving nursing homes in New England. Sr. Tanya mainly counsels LGBTQ youth with an emphasis on transgender teens.  She ministers in the Worcester Southbridge region of Massachusetts. She also weekly assists Fr. Bob in the nursing home ministries.
Bishop William Heller
Bishop Bill is the Bishop Protector of the Order. In addition he is the Bishop of the Diocese of St. John XXIII.
